February 7, 2007 - New Policy approved at Board of Examiners meeting - Jason Fegel

The Colorado Board of Examiners of Water Well Construction and Pump Installation Contractors approved a new continuing education policy yesterday. Effective for the 2008 license renewal, all continuing education hours must be earned from January 1st to December 31st of the year prior to renewal. The old dates were January 16 of the prior year till January 15th of the renewal year. Since there are no approved hours from Jan 1 through Jan 15th of 2007, this change will have no detrimental effect on the ability of contractors to earn their hours. And will avoid future confusion due to changing CWWCA Annual convention dates.

Another notable policy that was put into effect in October of 2006 is that no continuing education classes will be accredited if they are submitted after the event. If you are submitting an accreditation form (Click here for the form) submit it as long as possible before the event occurs.

In other news from the meeting, it appears that 16 contractors have not submitted their license renewal paperwork, and an additional 10 are deficient in their CEU requirements. So a total of 26 contractors have not completed their license renewal.
Well inspections are down due to weather and budget cuts (reductions in allowed mileage for the inspectors).
The board also approved assisting with the new Technical Training Sessions. These sessions, in conjunction with the CWWCA and the Colorado Ground Water Association, will provide technical programs throughout the state. They are aimed at removing the "sales pitches", and providing continuing education opportunities late in the year.

As of this Board of Examiner's meeting, Jason Fegel is the Liaison committee chair, and Jeff Apple is now vice chair. The Liaison committee was established in order to increase communication between the CWWCA and the Board of Examiners.
